Rev. Daniel Gyasi-Nimako has unequivocally asserted that countries that are developed were built on the foundation of the Word of God. According to him, no nation attains sustainable growth, stability, and prosperity without grounding its systems and structures in godly principles.
He made this statement during his exposition on the Methodist Church Ghana 2026 theme, “Walking in the Word – Equipped for Every Good Work,” at the Men’s Fellowship Retreat of the Effiduase Diocese, held at Kumawu Emmanuel Methodist Church. Addressing participants, Rev. Gyasi-Nimako emphasized that the centrality of Scripture is in shaping personal character, leadership ethics, and national development.
According to the Minister, the Word of God, particularly as revealed in the Ten Commandments, clearly outlines how humanity ought to live and serve God. He explained that these commandments provide moral guidance on honesty, respect, discipline, justice, and reverence for God – values that form the bedrock of strong institutions and thriving societies. He noted that although many developed countries today may appear largely secular in outlook, their legal systems, governance structures, and social frameworks were originally influenced and shaped by biblical principles.
Rev. Gyasi-Nimako contrasted this with the current state of many African nations. He lamented that Africa is wounded by high levels of injustice, indiscipline, favouritism, corruption, and laziness, among other social challenges. These negative tendencies, he stressed, continue to hinder the continent’s growth and undermine its vast potential. According to him, the absence of strict adherence to godly values in leadership and everyday life has contributed significantly to these challenges.
He therefore called on Africa to rise above these social injustices and return to the Word of God as the ultimate guide in building the continent. He urged leaders and citizens alike to develop systems devoid of personal, financial, psychological, emotional, and human manipulations that distort fairness and accountability. In his view, genuine transformation will only occur when policies, governance, and societal norms are rooted in righteousness and truth.
“Africa needs God in these present times more than ever before,” he declared passionately. He maintained that the foundation of Africa’s systems and structures must be firmly anchored in the Word of God. The principles for life, leadership, and national development, he noted, are embedded in Scripture. He encouraged believers to study the Word diligently, understand it deeply, and live by it at all costs.
Rev. Gyasi-Nimako concluded by reminding participants that in God there is love, peace, compassion, empathy, and orderliness – virtues essential for both individual and national progress. “Do not look left or right; go straight on the Word of God,” he urged, emphasizing unwavering commitment to divine principles as the sure path to development.
