BECE 2025 School Selection: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) and Answers

How many schools is a candidate allowed to choose for the 2025 School Selection Exercise?
Response: A candidate is allowed to choose seven SHS/SHTS/TVET or STEM schools.

Will a candidate choose the seven schools at once?
Response: A candidate is required to choose five schools in the main or first part and two alternative schools in the second part.

Can a candidate select boarding status for all the seven schools selected?
Response: A candidate may select a maximum of three boarding schools in the first part (which includes five choices). There is no restriction on boarding or day status in the two alternative school choices.

Can a candidate choose all seven schools as day for accommodation status?
Response: Yes, a candidate can choose day status for all seven selected schools.

How many schools can be selected from Categories A, B, and C?
Response:

• A candidate is required to select only one school from Category A.
• A maximum of two schools from Category B may be selected in the first part, and one school from Category B in the alternative part.
• For Category C, a candidate may choose all seven schools (first and second parts) from Category C if so desired.

Note: The Day & Boarding restrictions apply only to the five (5) main choices, where the maximum is three (3) boarding schools and two (2) day schools.

2. 2 Boarding & 3 Day
3. 1 Boarding & 4 Day
4. 5 Day

Permutations/Combinations for the Two (2) Alternative Choices:

1. 2 Boarding (1 from Category B & 1 from Category C)
2. 2 Boarding (both from Category C)
3. 1 Boarding & 1 Day (Categories B & C)
4. 1 Boarding & 1 Day (both from Category C)
5. 2 Day (Categories B & C)
6. 2 Day (both from Category C)

A candidate who desires to attend TVET or STEM schools must select all seven schools from either TVET or STEM schools.
