BECE Re-Marking Procedures: A Simple Guide

BECE Re-making Process and guide

If a candidate, parent/guardian, school, or any other stakeholder is not satisfied with a candidate’s marks or results for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and wishes to request a re-marking of scripts at the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), there is a clear procedure to follow.

The affected candidate should carefully follow these steps:

  • Wait for the release of the Provisional Results by WAEC.
  • Once the provisional results are released, the candidate has 60 days (two months) from the release date to apply for re-marking.
  • Obtain a formal application letter from the candidate’s headteacher, fully completed.
  • Address the letter to WAEC and submit it through the District Education Director, who will add a cover letter before forwarding it to WAEC.
  • WAEC will invite the candidate and parent/guardian to discuss the terms and conditions, including the fees for re-marking.
  • Once both parties agree on the terms, WAEC will carry out the re-marking of the candidate’s script.
  • Candidates and stakeholders are encouraged to share this information with others who may need guidance on the re-marking process.

Following these steps will ensure a smooth and transparent application process for re-marking BECE scripts and give affected candidates a fair opportunity to have their results reviewed.
